The flip side of a 21-essay-series is the
21-days-without-posting time that we’re in right now. The blog needs a rest and so do I. I hope to see this become a regular
pattern: fevered posting followed by blissful “down time.”
Here are my tentative plans for upcoming bursts of feverish
activity at 21 Essays:
On Tuesday, November 15, I’ll be cross-posting a special
piece on the great directors of animated shorts both here and on Fandor Keyframe.
Starting Wednesday, November 16, I’ll run a 15-essay series
on Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century. Currently, I’m collaborating
with some folks at the IMDb Classic Film message board on the Duck Dodgers series,
bouncing ideas off them and soliciting their thoughts. Join the fun at
the IMDb message boards if you'd like to participate…
In mid-December, I plan to run a short series on Dojoji Temple ,
a brilliant animated short by Kihachiro Kawamoto. Terry Price will
collaborate with me on this series.
Starting on December 25 and running for 12 days
(naturally!), I plan to run a Christmas series on the poem “In the Bleak
Midwinter” by Christina Rossetti. (Not everything will be film-related
around here!)
After that, I think I’ll need another of those 21-days-without-posting
breaks.
